This Volunteer Week, we were proud to host a special community event in partnership with Volunteer West and Australian Multicultural Community Services, celebrating the incredible contribution volunteers make to our communities.
We were delighted to welcome Pakiza Syed from Australian Multicultural Community Services, who delivered an inspiring presentation on the importance of volunteers across a wide range of community services and the positive impact they have on the lives of others.
A special thank you to our guest, Danny Pearson, who has always been a strong supporter of Farnham Street and our community initiatives. We greatly appreciate his ongoing encouragement and commitment to community development.
During the event, Catherine spoke about the many ways volunteers contribute to Farnham Street. From supporting our classes and programs, providing one-on-one mentoring to students who need extra assistance, and helping in programs such as the Cooking Class, Community Garden, and Boomerang Network, volunteers are at the heart of what we do.
We were also excited to introduce a new volunteer-led initiative where volunteers will be sewing cushions for heart and dementia patients, providing comfort and care to those in need.
Our students are also giving back through volunteering opportunities, including supporting residents at Mercy Place aged care, demonstrating the spirit of community service and connection.
The event concluded with the presentation of Volunteer Certificates by Danny Pearson, recognising and celebrating the dedication, generosity, and hard work of our volunteers.
