Recognition of the Life Skills Cooking Program

The Life Skills Cooking Program was honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Victorian Learn Local Pre-accredited Program Awards. This recognition reflects the program’s commitment to delivering high-quality, inclusive education that supports the development of essential employability, literacy, numeracy, and life skills.

Delivered in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment, the program utilises cooking as an engaging and practical delivery method. In response to increasing demand, the program expanded from four sessions per week in 2023 to daily classes in 2024 to accommodate all interested participants.

In 2023, a total of 33 learners participated across four class groups. Many of these individuals have since transitioned into part-time employment or volunteer roles, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness in enhancing participants’ confidence, capabilities, and pathways to meaningful engagement in the community.
