On Saturday 9 September in the brand spanking new surrounds of the Djerring Flemington Community Hub, Cathy was awarded the title of “Citizen of the Year 2023” in the Moonee Valley Neighbourhood Spirit Awards. The awards celebrate individuals and organisations who simply make their neighbourhood a better place. Sadly, Cathy was not able to collect the award herself as she was visiting her son in New York but Di and Jo were able to accept the award on her behalf.

“What a shock!” was Cathy’s typically understated response from NYC. Not to any of the legion of fans Cathy has accumulated over her many years of giving to the community, in big ways and small, but always with selfless good grace and enthusiasm.
